Preservation of Freshness and Taste
Liquid nitrogen dosing displaces oxygen, preventing oxidation and inhibiting the growth of spoilage microorganisms. This helps maintain the freshness, taste, color, and nutritional value of beverages. It is particularly beneficial for oxygen-sensitive products such as juices, wines, teas, nuts, flavored health supplements, and carbonated drinks.
Contamination Risk Reduction
By creating an oxygen-deficient environment inside the container, LN2 dosing minimizes the risk of contamination. Eliminating residual oxygen enhances microbiological stability and extends the product’s shelf life.
Nitrogenation for Beverage Products
LN2 dosing provides a cost-effective alternative to nitrogen widget aluminum cans for nitrogenating beverages like nitro coffee and nitro beer. This process enhances creaminess and creates the signature cascading bubble effect when poured.
Improved Packaging Rigidity
When liquid nitrogen expands into gas inside the container, it generates internal pressure, reinforcing the packaging structure. This added rigidity helps the container withstand external forces, reducing the risk of damage during transportation and storage.
Mitigation of Vacuum Paneling
In hot-filled product packaging, condensation can create a vacuum effect, leading to container deformation. LN2 dosing counteracts this issue by introducing nitrogen into the headspace, maintaining packaging integrity.
Lightweighting and Sustainability
LN2 dosing enables the use of thinner packaging materials while maintaining structural integrity. This reduces raw material consumption, lowers shipping costs, and supports sustainability efforts. The benefits extend beyond food and beverage packaging to industries such as personal care, chemicals, and other products using plastic or metal containers.
The NovoDoser package typically includes the following components:
Note: The components included in the package may vary depending on the specific NovoDoser model and configuration.
Nozzle Blanketing
Nozzle blanketing is a technique used to prevent frosting on the dosing nozzle by maintaining a protective layer of pure nitrogen gas at a slightly higher pressure than the surrounding atmosphere. This barrier prevents moisture-laden air from contacting the nozzle during both dosing and standby modes, eliminating frosting.
Challenges with Traditional Nozzle Blanketing
Traditional dosing systems relying on external nitrogen gas face several challenges:
External gas requires extra pressure control circuits, increasing system size and maintenance.
Variations in external gas pressure can affect nozzle blanketing performance.
External nitrogen sources are more prone to moisture, reducing nozzle blanketing effectiveness and increasing frosting risk.
Dependence on external nitrogen raises operational costs.
NovoDoser’s Self-Generating GN2 Nozzle Blanketing Solution
The NovoDoser LN2 Dosing System uses self-generating GN2 nozzle blanketing technology to eliminate frosting. It evaporates a controlled amount of liquid nitrogen (LN2) from its internal reservoir to generate nitrogen gas with a dew point of -196°C and moisture content below one-thousandth of a ppb. This GN2 is delivered to the nozzle at a slightly higher pressure than atmospheric pressure, forming a barrier that prevents moisture from reaching the cold nozzle surface, effectively eliminating frost during dosing and standby modes without needing external gas.
Benefits of NovoDoser’s Self-Generating GN2 Nozzle Blanketing Technology
Eliminates the need for external nitrogen gas and complex pressure control circuits, reducing installation and operational complexity.
By using internal LN2, the system ensures steady, moisture-free gas pressure, keeping the nozzle frost-free in all conditions.
Less need for defrosting, reducing downtime and maintenance costs while extending equipment lifespan.
No frost interference, ensuring precise and consistent dosing, reducing wastage in high-speed production.
The self-generating system operates on existing LN2 pressure and ambient heat, reducing the need for additional gas supply and lowering energy consumption.
Eliminates external nitrogen gas purchases and extra pressure control systems, reducing operational costs and maintenance needs.
Dosing time synchronization and dosing volume synchronization are two key features of the NovoDoser LN2 Dosing System that ensure precise and consistent liquid nitrogen (LN2) delivery in high-speed production lines.
Dosing Time Synchronization:
Dosing Volume Synchronization:
Both features work together to enhance the overall efficiency of the dosing process, ensuring consistency, quality, and reduced operational costs.
The NovoDoser LN2 Dosing System offers three primary types of dosing nozzles:
